Installation Steps
Windows Installation
1 Download the Installer
Download LocalLegacyVault-Setup.exe from our download page or from the link in your purchase confirmation email.
2 Run the Installer
Double-click the downloaded file. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click "More info" then "Run anyway". This happens because we're a new publisher—the app is completely safe.
3 Choose Install Location
The default location is C:\Program Files\Local Legacy Vault. You can change this if needed, then click Install.
4 Launch the App
Once installation completes, check "Launch Local Legacy Vault" and click Finish. The app will open and guide you through initial setup.
Linux Installation
1 Download the AppImage
Download LocalLegacyVault.AppImage from our download page or from the link in your purchase confirmation email.
2 Make it Executable
Open terminal and run: chmod +x LocalLegacyVault.AppImage
3 Run the App
Double-click the AppImage or run ./LocalLegacyVault.AppImage in terminal.
After Installation
Once the app opens for the first time:
- Create your master password – This is the only password you'll need to remember. Make it strong!
- Trial or paid – Click "Start Trial" for a 14-day free trial (no signup). Or if you purchased on the web: the app activates automatically when you return from checkout. If you installed after purchasing, go to our website and click "I already purchased" to sync—no codes or manual steps.
- Start building your vault – Add your first entries and begin organizing your legacy
Important: Your master password cannot be recovered if forgotten. There's no reset option because we never have access to your data. Write it down and store it somewhere safe—perhaps in a sealed envelope with your will.
